Our History:
My great-grandfather was a gold and silversmith in New England, making beautiful pieces of jewelry in Newport, Rhode Island. Regrettably, I only have one of his pieces and much of his history has been lost. Blacksmiths, jewelry makers, and watch creators have always intrigued me. It wasn’t until I was in my early thirties that I decided to venture into the art of spoon rings. I only fashioned a few pieces and give them away as gifts to friends and family. As the years passed, from time to time I would come across my box of spoons and I often wished that I had the time to make more rings. In late 2017 I decided that I had reached a fork in the road; I wanted to make art and I found myself looking over my box of spoons. With the support of my loving wife Lisa, who never lets me forget that I can do anything if I truly have a passion for it, the endless grace of our beloved God, and the encouragement of friends and family, Fork in the Road Jewelry was born. We are forever learning and growing and would be delighted to fashion a piece of history into a wearable memory for you or a gift for a loved one.
Spoon Rings History:
Spoon rings date back as far as the 1600s in England and were originally thought to represent love, responsibility, and commitment. As the story goes, servants who had fallen in love and wanted to propose marriage would steal silver spoons from their masters’ homes and have them crafted into rings. They were too poor to afford any sort of “real” engagement ring, so this was their best alternative to offering a beautiful and valuable ring to the woman they wanted to make their wife.
